Family and consumer sciences (FCS) is the comprehensive body of skills, research, and knowledge that helps people make informed decisions about their well being, relationships, and resources to achieve optimal quality of life. The field represents many areas, including human development, personal and family finance, housing and interior design, food science, nutrition, and wellness, textiles and apparel, and consumer issues practical arts courses.
Family and consumer sciences Education is also a group of planned, specialized instructional programs structured to prepare students to enter, advance, and refine prescribed competencies necessary to transition into postsecondary education and the workforce in the family and consumer sciences career clusters.
Family and consumer sciences programs area included in 7 of the 16 Career Clusters offered as well as, the traditional family and consumer sciences courses.
The use of technology with sophisticated software plays an integral part in carrying out the tasks in today's home and career.
The family and consumer sciences education programs at school sites and area technical centers provide state-of-the-art instruction to meet the demands of industry. |
